American jewelry designer, Amy Torello, contemplates the relevance of meaningful adornment, in today's hectic consumerist world and suggests that perhaps it is as simple as the rings we wear on our fingers, or the charms we hang around our necks, that can lead to accessing for small doses of quiet presence and mindfulness throughout our day. Amy Torello is an award winning jewelry designer from San Francisco that has called Mexico home for the last 17 years. After years of apprenticing around the world, she built her studio in Taxco Guerrero, right in the heart of the Mexican silversmithing tradition. Working with local artisans, Amy hopes to do her part to keep the craft alive in a region hard hit by the narco wars. She created her most recent project, The Humanity Ring, in conjunction with her husband as their small gift to the world- both as a fundraising vehicle for humanitarian causes as well as a personal meditation tool to help each of us find peace in these trying times.
