Cortez Fraser, who reportedly drove away when he was stopped by a traffic officer on Thursday, appeared at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court on Friday to answer to seven charges, six of which he pleaded not guilty to.

Fraser appeared before Magistrate Renita Singh charged with resisting arrest, disorderly behaviour, dangerous driving, driving without a license, failure to wear a seat belt, failure to wear a face mask and prohibition of tinted glass.

Police Headquarters reported that Fraser only pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour and was fined $15, 000.

He was placed on $20,000 bail for resisting arrest, $10,000 bail for driving without a license and $15, 000 bail for dangerous driving. For the other offences, Fraser was placed on self-bail.

The matter is adjourned to October 29, 2021.

Police Headquarters reported that about 16:42hrs on Thursday, a Police Constable, who was operating on the Rose Hall Town Public Road, observed Fraser in a heavily tinted motorcar and attempted to stop him.

But Fraser did not stop and as a result allegedly hit the cop with the vehicle.

Police said the police rank took out his phone and started to record the incident when Fraser eventually pulled to the side of the road. He was told of the offence and asked to produce his driver’s license and other relevant documents pertaining to the vehicle.

Fraser allegedly behaved in a disorderly manner and refused to produce the documents, and subsequently sped away from the scene.
